HiAnime for Android
One app for phones, tablets, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. Same account, list and history as the website.
Install on a phone or tablet
1. Download the APK
Open this page on your phone and tap Download APK. If your browser warns that the file may be harmful, choose Download anyway: it's warning about every app that isn't from the Play Store.
2. Allow the install
Open the downloaded file. The first time, Android asks you to allow your browser (or file manager) to install apps: tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
3. Install and open
Tap Install, then Open. If Play Protect asks to scan the app, you can let it.
4. Sign in
Use your website account (email or username and password, or Google, Discord, MyAnimeList, AniList). Your list, history and settings follow you. You can also continue as a guest.
Updates
The app checks for new versions on launch and offers Update. Android may ask once more to allow the app itself to install updates. Installing a newer APK over the old one also works and keeps your data.
Install on Android TV, Google TV or Fire TV
Works on Android TV and Google TV (Android 7.0+), Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Mi Box, and Fire TV from Fire OS 6. Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs can't run Android apps: plug in an Android TV stick instead.
Easiest: the Downloader app
1. Install Downloader
On the TV, open the Play Store (Amazon Appstore on Fire TV), search for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it.
2. Allow it to install apps
- Google TV / Android TV 8+: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Install unknown apps → turn on Downloader.
- Android TV 7: Settings → Security & restrictions → turn on Unknown sources.
- Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → Install unknown apps → Downloader. No Developer options? Settings → My Fire TV → About, click the device name 7 times.
3. Type the link
Open Downloader, select the URL box and enter hianime.at/app.apk, then press Go.
4. Install
When the download finishes choose Install, then Done. Downloader can delete the APK afterwards.
Or: a USB drive
Copy the APK to a FAT32/exFAT USB drive, plug it into the TV (Fire TV Stick needs an OTG adapter), install a file manager such as X-plore or File Commander, allow it under Install unknown apps, then open the APK from the drive and choose Install.
Finding the app
- Google TV / Android TV: under Apps. Hold OK on it to move it or add it to favourites.
- Fire TV: hold Home → Apps, scroll to the end. Press the Menu (☰) button on it → Move to front.
